Threadless is having a pin-up competition right now, so I decided to see what I could do. I had a concept, but I knew I had to get the face just right before I started anything else, so I worked on that first.

Once I got the drawing where I wanted it, I put it on my new large lightbox and drew an overlay of all the crazy tattoos. That way it’s easier to scan in and adjust separately in Photoshop.

I got the idea to try my hand at some digital collage not too long ago.  Here is my sketch.

Here’s the final!    Now I just need to figure out what to put it on….a bag….a computer cover…an iphone case….hmmmmmm

So recently I’ve become obsessed with sketching in blue ballpoint pen. However – I’ve been trying to think about how I can capture the same looseness on a larger scale. SO…

These are a few sketches I’ve done with Oil Crayons (Sharpie China Marker) on Dura-Lar. The Dura-Lar is a matte plastic sheet that us SUPER smooth. I’m kinda pumped and excited to experiment some more.

I sketched out a handful of thumbnails – this one had the most promise I thought.

Here is the final line-art.

I finished it off with watercolor and colored pencil.
